A Morning:
New Works by Dolores Purdy

Morning Star Gallery is pleased to present new works on paper by Dolores Purdy (Caddo/Winnebago).

Dolores, a trained watercolorist, is a well accomplished Ledger artist who has worked in this discipline over a decade and is a recognized expert in the field. She frequently lectures on Ledger art and recently spoke at Tweed Museum - UMN, Duluth, MN, and Haffenreffer Museum – Brown University, Providence, RI.

Dolores’ work is known for rich colors, humor and whimsy, bringing a feminine touch to Ledger art, historically a traditional male art form.  A resident of Northern New Mexico, she has won numerous awards and has been interviewed on this subject in many publications including Native Peoples and Indian Country Today.  Dolores is prominently featured in the book Women and Ledger Art, by Dr. Richard Pearce, University of Arizona Press.  Please join us at our open house, meet Dolores and view her unique work.
